The alleged assault that occurred during the weekend of the Grammy’s between R&B sensations Chris Brown and Rihanna proved that domestic violence is no laughing matter in the industry. With both participants being high profile names, media outlets rushed to report the latest rumors in absence of the facts.

How upset is Jay-Z about the Chris Brown and Rihanna situation? One of Hip Hop’s brightest stars—Jay-Z—has now officially broken his silence about the situation. Initial reports regarding Mr. Carter’s reaction to the news was that the former head of Roc-A-Fella “hit the roof” when he heard of Rihanna’s injuries. Other reports noted that Jay-Z was allegedly seeking revenge on the 19-year-old “Kiss Kiss” singer, calling him a “walking dead man.”

In a statement that seemed to contradict all that the public has heard, Jay-Z simply stated that Rihanna needs support during her time of need. "This is a real situation," he told People in a recent interview. "You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that...I just think we should all support her. She's goin through a tough time. You have to realize she's a young girl, as well. She's very young."

While some fans and celebrities have chosen sides, Gabrielle Union offered a brief moment of sanity regarding the incident, which is quickly becoming a media circus. Union found a positive side to the unfortunate situation, and hopes that people will use this as a moment to have an honest dialog about domestic violence.

Chris Brown & Rihanna ....started over a booty call/text

As the investigation continues on the Chris Brown/Rihanna domestic assault case, more details emerge that could shed some light on what took place on that fateful Sunday night. Yet another unnamed source spoke to the New York Daily News and attempted to provide some clarity on what took place prior to the fight.

Did the Chris Brown and Rihanna fight start over a "booty call" text? The source claims that Brown received a “booty call” text from another woman while Brown and Rihanna were leaving Clive Davis’ party.

"He got a booty call. He got a text. Rihanna saw it and she got upset. They started to argue. She got out of the car. He wanted her to get back in, so he grabbed her," the industry source said. "She pulled away. That's when she's told people he hit her."

Since the incident, Brown has reportedly been trying to get a hold of Rihanna.

"Chris has been trying to contact her. So far she hasn't taken his call," the source continues.

With the sheer number of unnamed sources adding their two cents, everything to this point has been mere speculation. Without Brown nor Rihanna’s delivering of their personal accounts, nobody knows what really happened to set Brown off.

Some rumors that have been shot down include the two fighting over one giving the other an STD, Brown being upset at Rihanna for spending time with Timbaland at a pre-Grammy party and now the latest being the “booty call” text.

All that is known is that Rihanna suffered some surprising injuries that include a split lip and a black eye. No pictures of Rihanna’s injuries have emerged, so even the extent of the injuries is mired in speculation.

LAPD presented a case to prosecutors on Tuesday, but the District Attorney sent them back to the drawing board to acquire more concrete evidence. In cases such as this, what is called “witness work” is imperative because the victims often have difficulty testifying against their loved ones.

"These cases are often stymied by the refusal of victims to testify," attorney Alexandra Leichter, a Beverly Hills-based private arbitrator said to the New York Daily News. "If witnesses saw the victim before the attack, witnesses heard the screams and then cops came and she was bloodied, then the circumstantial evidence could be enough to convict."

Sunday night should have been an evening of celebration for Chris Brown. He was supposed to sing "Forever" at the Grammys, and girlfriend Rihanna was expected to be by his side and perform on the show as well.

But something went terribly wrong early Sunday morning, and neither made it to the show. Instead, Brown turned himself in during the broadcast to be booked on suspicion of making criminal threats. The singer, 19, was released from jail on $50,000 bail.

Though police have not confirmed the name of the victim, reports have stated that it was Rihanna, 20, and that she suffered serious, visible bruises on her face and bite marks on her arms. Brown has not made a public statement yet about the incident, but several entertainment experts agreed that if Brown — who has had a squeaky-clean reputation since debuting at age 16 with the hit "Run It" — owns up to his actions and apologizes, his once-promising career might be able to survive the current firestorm.
